Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy provides a supportive space to better understand yourself, work through challenges, build coping strategies, and foster personal growth. It can help you gain clarity, feel more empowered, and improve relationships with yourself and others.
The number of sessions varies depending on your goals and individual circumstances. Some clients find a few sessions helpful, while others benefit from ongoing support. We’ll review your progress together and adjust as needed.
Absolutely. Online sessions are available via secure telehealth platforms and can be a flexible and accessible option for many clients.
Your first session is a chance to share what’s bringing you to therapy in a calm and confidential space. Together, we’ll explore your goals, talk about what’s been happening in your life, and get a sense of whether the therapeutic relationship feels like a good fit. There’s no pressure – just space to begin where you are.
Sessions typically last 50 minutes. This provides enough time for meaningful conversation while respecting your schedule and emotional energy.
Yes. What you share is treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality, in line with Victorian privacy laws. The only exceptions are if there is a risk of serious harm or if legally required.
No referral is necessary. You can reach out directly to book a session.
That’s completely normal. Starting therapy can make some feel vulnerable, but it’s also a courageous step. We’ll go at your pace, and you’re welcome to ask questions at any time.
Our approach is flexible and client-centred, drawing from modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Humanistic Therapy, and Person-Centred Therapy. We also incorporate behaviour change principles that support real-life progress and long-term wellbeing.

Telehealth Counselling – Support Wherever You Are
We understand that life is busy, unpredictable, and at times, geographically challenging. That’s why Have a Chat offers secure and confidential online counselling sessions through our telehealth platform.
Whether you're balancing work and family commitments, located in a regional area, or simply feel more comfortable connecting from your own space, telehealth gives you access to the same quality care as in-person sessions.
For a phone appointment, all you need is a phone that your therapist can call. For a video consultation, you need is a quiet, private space and a stable internet connection. Sessions are held via a secure, encrypted video platform to ensure your confidentiality is protected.
If you’re unsure whether telehealth is right for you, feel free to get in touch – we’re happy to talk through your options.
